Technique Workshops
Special technique workshops can be arranged based on any of my patterns for such skills as beginner or intermediate piecing or appliqué.
Introduction To Picture Piecing
CONEFLOWERS pattern - If you have always wanted to try picture piecing but didn’t know where to start, this workshop will introduce you to the process in a fun and easy way using freezer paper templates. One or two days.
Paper Piecing
THIRD WEEKEND or NEW LEAVES pattern - These very popular patterns are partially paper pieced and the resulting quilts are spectacular! Lots of pieces, but not difficult, even beginners who enjoy a challenge can do this!
Easy Design Play
Explore a fun and easy route to designing a one-of-a-kind original wall hanging. You will make several designs, choose colors, make templates and even get started on the sewing! Need access to a copy machine. One or two days.
This workshop deals with traditional blocks. I will bring handouts and block diagrams for you to work with. It is NOT a picture piecing workshop.
Hand Quilting
Includes marking, layering and basting the quilt sandwich and a discussion of supplies as well as instruction on the quilting stitch.
Machine Quilting
Introduction to machine quilting using a home sewing machine. Includes both straight line and free form quilting, taught by an award winning machine quilter. One of my most popular classes!
Lectures
Creativity - Where Do The Ideas Come From?
Explores sources of design ideas in general and includes an extensive trunk or slide showing of my quilts and the specific inspiration for each of them.
Dare To Be Different
Focusing on making quilts that are different from the photo or pattern. Do you want to get innovative and try something new? Lots of examples to inspire you.
Fees Through 2008:
Lecture $300.00-- Workshop $350.00 per 6 hour day, $500.00 for a two day workshop. Maximum 20 students unless agreed otherwise. Plus travel, room, board and related expenses.
