{"id":228,"date":"2008-12-14T09:08:40","date_gmt":"2008-12-14T14:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/?p=228"},"modified":"2008-12-14T09:08:40","modified_gmt":"2008-12-14T14:08:40","slug":"christmas-preparations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/?p=228","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Preparations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately there is no progress on the fawn quilt to report.\u00a0 Yesterday we went to town for lunch and the Potwin Parlor Tour. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kansastravel.org\/topeka\/potwinplacechristmas.htm\" title=\"Potwin\">Potwin Place<\/a> is an area of Topeka that is on the Historical Register and is a community very active in Holiday happenings throughout the year. At Christmastime it is essential to drive through in the evening to see the lights but they also offer the Parlor Tour one weekend where ( for a fee, of course)\u00a0 you can walk through the lower level of some of the homes to see the Christmas decorations.\u00a0 It is always an inspiration to see the many ways folks decorate for Christmas.\u00a0 These old homes with their beautiful staircases, fireplaces and high ceilings are perfect showcases and it gets me in the mood to come home and do something about my own house!<\/p>\n<p>So yesterday when we got home we put up the tree, wrapped some gifts and generally got a little Christmas happening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/komondornament.jpg\" title=\"Komondornament.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/komondornament.jpg\" alt=\"Komondornament.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many of my ornaments are handmade, like this purchased Komondor one, the beaded ones that I made and some gotten as gifts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/christmas08.jpg\" title=\"Christmas08.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/christmas08.jpg\" alt=\"Christmas08.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My husband made the walnut bowl That holds the poinsettias, the snowman plate was a gift from a friend and the little unicorn is a souvenir from the year that I made about 100 of them to decorate a tree for the Festival Of Trees fundraiser.<\/p>\n<p>Today I MUST get back to business!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unfortunately there is no progress on the fawn quilt to report.\u00a0 Yesterday we went to town for lunch and the Potwin Parlor Tour.
