I like to have my Silent Auction piece reflect my entry, so this year I am doing a dog.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieBW.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2878\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieBW-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"YorkieBW\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieBW-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieBW.jpg 337w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I like to make my photo in black and white as it is easier to see through the tracing paper that I use to do the layout. I generally ad hints and clues that will help later on, like the direction of the fur and the darkness of the eyes and nose.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieLayout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2879\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieLayout-264x300.jpg\" alt=\"YorkieLayout\" width=\"264\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieLayout-264x300.jpg 264w, https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/YorkieLayout.jpg 397w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 264px) 100vw, 264px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After finishing the layout last week I spent some time transferring everything to the freezer paper and marking the tic marks to aid in the sewing,\u00a0 pulling fabrics that might work and did some cutting in preparation for the sewing.
