I think that new sky fabric has definite possibilities. Sewing some of the seams tightens things up and makes it easier to see and fix mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron8-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3174\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron8-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"heron8-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron8-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron8-2.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am liking this new grassy fabric and I have purposely cut it at several angles which I think gives it a sort of nice windblown effect, and will give judges something to complain about I suppose.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron9.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3175\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron9-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"heron9\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron9-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/heron9.jpg 356w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 237px) 100vw, 237px\" \/><\/a>Within the lower left portion there is a clump of smaller cat tails which I pieced in using a darker fabric which didn&#8217;t even show from a distance and needed to be taken apart and replaced with this lighter bit. It is not unusual for me to audition and cut several fabrics before settling on the right one.\u00a0 It is always best if that happens before the sewing is done! But fabric choices are so important it is worth it to do the work.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a new dark brush fabric as I like to get larger scale more detailed fabrics near the front.
