{"id":3285,"date":"2015-10-03T08:40:34","date_gmt":"2015-10-03T13:40:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/?p=3285"},"modified":"2015-10-30T09:20:05","modified_gmt":"2015-10-30T14:20:05","slug":"winnings-followup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/?p=3285","title":{"rendered":"Winnings Followup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I found out that &#8220;Splash&#8221; was awarded the Award of Excellence for Piecing, and also Honorable mention in the Pictorial wall quilts category at LaConner, WA and will stay on for the Best of Festival show through Nov 22.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Splash_40x40_full-e1425141369248.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2938\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Splash_40x40_full-297x300.jpg\" alt=\"Splash_40x40_full\" width=\"297\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The reception last evening at the Buttonwood ArtSpace in KC for the Visions Of The Flint Hills show was very nice and quite well attended. I was pleased and surprised to discover that &#8220;Grasslands&#8221; was awarded Second Place in the &#8220;Other&#8221; category!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Grasslands.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3292\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Grasslands-300x191.jpg\" alt=\"Grasslands\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Grasslands-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ruthpowersartquilts.com\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Grasslands.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were a LOT of entries and the work was excellent. I even saw some other textile work, some pieced photos printed on fabric, some quilted and embellished with stitching, some woven work and even a hooked rug! But the majority, of course, was paintings and photography, with a few sculptural works. AND, I was pleased to note, the Topeka art scene was well represented!\u00a0 By the time we left there were already some sales.
