Redecorating

OOOPS!! This was meant to be published on the 9th………..

Wow, it’s been a couple of busy weeks since I visited the blog!

I have decided to do some redecorating, so that involves quite a lot of decisions and I am not doing so well. Right now I have 5 tile boards in the living room and I can’t seem to settle on just one. I want to get rid of the carpet and what I’d really like is a nice hardwood floor but that is not practical with the big dogs.

I thought that some sort of stone would be nice and sturdy, but it turns out that is not so. Either it is too soft and would be scratched by the dog’s big toenails or else it would require a lot of maintenance. I’ve been convinced that porcelain tile is the way to go, but which one??????

I have two labrador retrievers and put in laminate oak flooring. It works great for dogs, easy to clean, wet things wipe up. My flooring guy suggested it because beauty shops use it and I was concerned as much about my fabric dyeing as the dogs. I love it! Looks like wood, did I say easy to clean, and is beautiful. Just a suggestion.
    Good luck.

Beware the potential problems with ceramic tile. Dropped things will crack it. Dirt and hair will collect in the grout indentations and can’t be swept out. You will have to have a vacuum for hard floors.
Slipping and falling on tile is more common. Standing on tile while working at the kitchen counter is very hard on your legs and feet.
I vote for already distressed looking hardwood and overlooking the scratches.
