And here is where we are right now- I hope to finish today!

Yesterday’s mail brought acceptance letters for BOTH of my entries to Houston this year! “Mon Grand Pere” and The Merchant’s House” will both be there, (click on Gallery in the side bar to see them) though for the first time in a LONG time, I will not. My travel schedule for the fall makes it impossible this year, but at least I will be represented by my work!

Happy 4th of July!!

Sometimes I spend entirely too much time playing on the computer. This morning I found Scribbler. Too much fun!!

Oh, no! That was an hour ago and several doodles later:

Don’t go there if you can’t spare some time to play! I should be sewing. Here’s where I left off yesterday.

So far, I have made the coneflower samples from mostly batik fabrics which lend themselves so perfectly to this subject, but I decided that it was probably time to branch out and use other commercial prints. These are the two sample sections from the two days of teaching in NW AR.

I’m not crazy about the leaf fabric – may have to change that.

And this is how far I got yesterday before I had to quit to join friends for an evening cruise and meal on the lake. Oh, what a refreshing break in the routine that was!

Yesterday I only cut fabric for the design wall. Nothing is sewn or actually committed yet. I thought if one kitten was good maybe three would be better!. The black and white butterfly scraps are not big enough to fill the pieces in the pattern so I will have to divide the pattern pieces in order to use them. That is certainly an option that anyone should consider when making this pattern – adding more seams to best utilize your fabric and even eliminating seams if one piece of fabric is colored in such a way as to make the seam unnecessary. The pieces off to the right are contenders for the accent strip, but I won’t decide just yet.

This afternoon I will sew!

Continuing from yesterday- I’m still on dial-up and needed to free up the phone lines for an expected call.

More photos from the recent workshop: I wish I could remember names, but you know who you are!! I think that there were some great starts made and I do hope to see finished projects at some point.

As for me, I’m finishing up the sample that I started because in September and October I have four back to back workshops and not enough samples to go around!!

Thanks for the nice comment Gwynette! It really was great fun for me to return to your group for a second visit. The workshop was especially fun with the delightful group of ladies that worked hard, but also had fun and started some lovely projects.

Gwynette’s coneflowers are going to be “Coconut Lime” I believe,

and we also had a “Green Envy” along with some more of the more established colors.

It is always fun for me to see everyone’s fabric choices! Karen pre pieced her backgrounds from hand dyes!  Love it when folks dare to be different!  More tomorrow……..
