First Day

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

They say what you do on the first day of the new year is what you do all year – if so, I’m OK with that.

I sewed some, visited some, watched some TV, did some housework and shopping (online) and even slept a little! What I didn’t do that I should have was to get out and walk, but it was bitter cold and windy. That’s my excuse , anyway!

Made some good progress on the new fire piece and I’ve been thinking that this might be a fun one to do in different seasons. I can see it in winter colors, without the fire of course, and spring, summer and fall. too.

New Year, Old Year

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Happy 2011 to everyone, I hope the New Year brings you what you need. I have never been one to make New Year’s resolutions; I know myself well enough to know that I would not keep them! I just strive to do the best I can and to try and keep up. In retrospect, I am pretty satisfied with 2010. I entered 34 pieces (some repeated, of course) into various shows and exhibits, won 9 awards and sold 5 works not counting the one that was donated and sold for SAQA. I purchased 2 pieces for myself. I traveled for teaching and lecturing as well as to Houston for Market and Festival. The year was not without it’s disappointments though, as for the first time ever my entry to Houston was rejected.

I have already made one entry for 2011 and see that the deadline for AQS- Paducah is Monday. I wanted to enter “Colorado Kids” there, but I forgot to get photos before it went to “Inspirations” and it will not be home in time. So the only thing I have to enter there is “The Merchant’s House” which I think is still eligible so perhaps I will enter that.

I hope to do a better job this year with the blog, but realistically, I will try to do at least as well as last year. Actually my blog statistics show that Dec 2010’s visits were a record for me!

So–let’s see what 2011 brings!
